Monoprints of rural buildings found in the countryside where I live. They invite curiosity, either because of their placement in the landscape, their apparent redundancy and lack of purpose or the atmosphere surrounding them. At certain times of day perhaps they look moody, incongruous or even sinister, and musing on the narrative they evoke occupies my walking thoughts.
Process:
These monoprints are made using an etching press with etching inks on archival heavyweight paper sometimes with the addition of collaged items. The original plate is made using a method known as collagraph; cardboard is textured with mark making, drawing techniques, glue and carborundum and the resulting plate is inked up and passed with the damp paper through the press several times hence the uniqueness of each print.
